PANTONE ® or Spot colour inks are specific formulations that are printed alone. The range of available spot colour inks, much like paint, is nearly unlimited. There is a wider and more varied range colours than produced by four-colour (CMYK) process. Spot colour inks print a massive range of colours from fluorescent greens to subtle pastels and oranges to metallic silvers, golds & other finishes.
If you require single / spot colour printing please specify the PANTONE ® colour reference.
VAT is chargeable at standard rate for printed business stationery, posters, business cards, flags and a range of other things.
Flyers and books are typically VAT free, but this is subject to sight of artwork. The best way to guess is if your flyer or book has sections for filling in, then typically VAT will be applicable and must be paid before production.
Lithographic (or Litho) printing is a process wherein aluminium plates are etched into with your design. Each plate is assigned one of the four printing colour values CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black) and each plate is inked up to then press into your sheets, allowing for a superbly accurate and high quality finish.
The main cost of litho printing is in the setup – its an expensive but well loved printing method. All of our products on runs of 500 or more are typically printed litho, whereas most small runs are done digitally.
Digital printing is a highly cost effective and fast way to get high quality printing, especially in lower volumes.

Yes, we can print on recycled papers.
However, if you’re looking for an eco friendly option, we recommend carbon offsetting your prints rather than aiming for pure recycled papers.
Often, the recycling process is not very environmentally friendly as the papers are often bleached to remove previous inks, meaning many chemical processes can go into the papers production.
Please get in touch to discuss economically friendly recycled papers, carbon offsetting and other green ideas.
Of course – we’re called Shropshire Printing as we are based in Telford, Shropshire and we liked the name.
